Fire Chief Station StyleWinner of the 2011 Bronze Award with the Station Style Awards from Fire Chief Magazine

Constructed on a difficult, sloped site, the two-story 35,600 square foot structure is located so that the Fire Department apparatus bay (upper level) easily and directly accesses Main Street at the higher end, free of on-site vehicular traffic. The shared main entrance, E-911/Dispatch Center, Training Room, Fitness facilities and the Holden Police Department are on a lower level and also access Main Street at the lower end of the site. Holden is a fast-growing town located just north of Worcester, MA and the building’s architectural style fits comfortably into the fabric of a revitalized Main Street.  Working as a team, Mitchell Associates brought expertise in planning for Fire Department needs and Kaestle Boos Associates brought expertise to the police planning.
