Sharon, Ma
In collaboration with Kaestle Boos Associates, Architect of Record

A public safety feasibility study has been completed for Sharon, MA, by Mitchell Associates and Kaestle Boos Associates, Inc. (Architect of Record). Based on the Town Master Plan identifying the need for upgrading fire and police services, the study resulted in a 37,500 square foot combined public safety facility that includes separate areas for police and fire operations, training and administration. The multi-level plan allows for secure entrance for police operations and separation of emergency vehicle traffic. Shared meeting and utility spaces saves 10% on the building size. Several sites were considered; the recommended site allows for easy access to a main thoroughfare and minimizes the impact on open space and recreational areas. The fire program includes four apparatus bays, decon, SCBA areas, and storage.
