Village of Skaneateles
In 2004 the voters of the Village of Skaneateles turned down a $6 million fire station by a 2 to 1 margin with the largest voter turnout in the history of the Village. In the fall of 2005 Mitchell Associates was retained to be the firematic design specialist to work with committee of firefighters and the architectural firm QPK Design. Our task was to reduce the building from 27,644 square feet to 16,397 square feet while assuring the firefighters that every square foot of the building functioned to the utmost. The result was approved by the voters on October 24, 2006 with a positive vote margin of 4 to1. Construction began immediately after the vote. We are remaining involved in the project as the Associated Architect to make sure that all of the firematic components of the building are correct.
City of Beacon
We have completed a study of the possibilities for merging three independent fire companies into a new City built central station. The existing departments were founded in the nineteenth century. Two of the departments occupy buildings of historic significance, dating to the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. These buildings hold deep emotional meaning for the members. As part of the study we have evaluated and presented sixteen different schemes, representing various combinations of renovation with additions, and new construction. In conjunction with these schemes, we have evaluated 13 separate new parcels, including an abandoned factory adjacent a waterfall.
Philipstown-North Highlands Fire District

Services being provided include design, estimating of hard & soft costs, tax calculations and bond vote support.
